Daily Fantasy Soccer: DFS Soccer Week 26
Wednesday, February 10, 2016
Hello everyone! We have a fairly mediocre slate this week, but the tournaments on DraftKings are extremely nice and with an influx of new users from England, the GPP prices have increased. The highlight is the $25,000 Bicycle Kick, which costs $20 to enter and pays out $5,000 to first place.
Despite the slate’s lack of excitement, there is some value to be had, and much of it will come down to avoiding mistakes. There are a few obvious plays, and we’ll go over them as we look at the charts in a little bit. First, let’s discuss a few big topics form last week:
- Southampton are really good with Fraser Forster back. They’ve kept five clean sheets in five matches since he returned, and he made a few nice saves last week to show his worth. They are a very, very good defensive squad, and many will favor them at Swansea this week. The issue I have is that they’ll be away from home, which is a big downside in the Premier League. There is GPP value here for Forster, but he’ll be hard to trust in cash games.
- Everton keep rolling. They’ve won their past three matches in all competitions by a score of 3-0 each and they are in great form. The attack is rolling and the defense is competent. Missing Tim Howard is a blessing in disguise with how bad he’s looked this season, and there will be value here this week against a weak West Brom team.
- We still don’t know much about Chelsea. They have improved since firing Jose Mourinho, but there is little to suggest they are back to being a great team. With everyone still deciding how much they like Chelsea, there might be some good value there this weekend in a great home match against Newcastle.
Goalkeepers
DraftKings
Goalkeepers are priced extremely well this week. The biggest value to be had seems to be in Everton’s Joel Robles. He is expected to start once again for Tim Howard and will be the favorite for daily games. He is the second highest priced goalkeeper, but the matchup is elite and the sportsbooks really like him for a win-to-nil, which of course comes with ten bonus points on DraftKings. The chance for a win-to-nil is above 60% and is almost as high as Thibaut Courtois’, who is priced $200 higher.
Speaking of Courtois, he is also a great play this week and the number two cash target. From the cheap side of the chart, the sportsbooks like Rudd, Adrian, and Fabianski the most, but all come with high levels of risk.
Strikers
DraftKings
There is only one man here that the sports books love and his name is Diego Costa. Costa is listed at a higher than 60% chance to score, and with that, he should be owned in all formats. The second best is Romelu Lukaku, who is questionable, and there isn’t much more to love there. Odion Ighalo is in a bad spot, while the cheap guys all have tough matchups.
From the bottom of the pack, the best choice according to the spotsbooks are Andy Carroll and Charlie Austin, but both are at risk to start and there is nothing safe there. In terms of trying to find some sort of production, we’d recommend monitoring the starting lineups in hopes of an extremely cheap play presenting itself in the last minute. Ideally, we’d love a winger to pop up for cheap in a starting lineup so we can punt the second forward spot.
Good luck!
