Blue Jays finalize 2-yr deal with Donaldson – Josh Donaldson | TOR
Blue Jays and 3B Josh Donaldson avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $28.65 million contract.
The reigning AL MVP will make $11.65 million in 2016 and $17 million in 2017. The two sides were forced to go to an arbitration hearing last winter, which Donaldson won, but they were able to work out a multi-year contract this time. Donaldson remains under team control through 2018. The new deal gives the Blue Jays some cost certainty, which is a nice bonus with Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista due to become free agents after 2016. Feb 10 – 12:33 PM
