Brad Marchand goes coast-to-coast for gorgeous goal (Video)
Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand went coast-to-coast to score a gorgeous goal against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.
Near the end of a Zdeno Chara tripping penalty near the start of the third period, Marchand picked up the puck, skated back into his own end, and then split the Sabres for a backhand score past Chad Johnson at the 2:04 mark. The goal tied the game 2-2, and eventually helped send it to overtime. Boston won the game 3-2 in a shootout.
The goal was Marchand’s 23rd of the year. His career-high came in the 2011-12 season when he had 28 goals in 76 games played. His improved offensive play has been noticeable according to Boston.com.
“I like his production,” Julien told the media following Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Maple Leafs. “I think as a group, including him, we’ve got to get better without the puck. So he’s a guy we can rely on to score some goals. He’s been really effective that way, and it’s a good thing we have him, because he’s one of the consistent ones when it comes to that department.”
Marchand’s goal ended up helping the Bruins get some much-needed points. Boston entered the night with 58 points, one clear of the New Jersey Devils for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
