Northwest Missouri State DE found dead in his dorm room
Nicholas Turner, a junior who played defensive end for Northwest Missouri State University, was found dead in his dorm room on Sunday.
His death is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.
Turner was supposed to be with his teammates at the Lamkin Activity center on campus celebrating the team’s recent Division II National Championship. Players and coaches were meeting with fans and signing autographs at an event organized by the school.
However, about an hour into the event, coach Adam Dorrell announced via microphone to the crowd that the event needed to end immediately because of “unforeseen circumstances.”
Dorrell informed the players of Turner’s passing after the crowd dispersed.
Turner has 22 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2015. He also had a sack in the national championship game against Shepherd University (West Virginia).
