Donald Trump endorses Broncos, Peyton Manning in Super Bowl
Beat it, Tom Brady. You’re a loser, at least in the 2016 season, and Donald Trump has no room in his life for losers. His new QB pal? Peyton Manning.
When asked on CBS’s Face The Nation who he would be picking in this year’s Super Bowl, Trump slathered his usual mix of superlatives upon both teams, delivered in that adjective-heavy, noun-light style of speaking for which he has become famous:
“Your Carolina team is sort of a hot team. And the quarterback’s doing great,” Trump said, referencing Cam Newton and the sort-of hot 17-1 Panthers, of course. But then he pivoted: “I very much have always liked Peyton Manning. He’s a very good guy. I know him. And he’s a very, very good guy. So I have to go with the person I know and I like. I like the other team. I think the other team looks fantastic. Probably, they would be favored by something. [The Panthers are indeed favored by something, roughly six points or so.] But I’ll stick with Peyton because he’s a very good guy.”
So there you go: Peyton Manning, not just good guy, but, by Trump’s count, very, very, very, very good guy. Does that mean Donald Trump means Cam Newton is NOT a good guy? Someone should ask him! That’ll go over well!
