Los Angeles renames road to Dodger Stadium after Vin Scully
The voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers will now have a street named in his honor, the L.A. city council decided Friday.
Iconic broadcaster Vin Scully is preparing for his final season calling the team’s games this year before retiring. He is 88 and entering his 67th year in broadcasting. City councilman Gil Cedillo proposed renaming Elysian Park Avenue, the road that leads to Dodger Stadium, “Vin Scully Avenue.”

The council met Friday and the motion passed overwhelmingly.
Several players, alumni and administrators from the organization attended the meeting, according to a report by MLB.com’s Tom Singer.
According to Singer, the group will include manager Dave Roberts, players Clayton Kershaw, Yasiel Puig, Austin Barnes, Carlos Frias, Yimi Garcia, Yasmani Grandal, Micah Johnson, Zach Lee, Scott Van Slyke, Trayce Thompson, and Ross Stripling, and Dodgers alums Tommy Lasorda, Orel Hershiser, Ron Cey, Steve Garvey, Eric Karros and Maury Wills.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke called out the Dodgers ownership and management team Friday saying the franchise should change its stance on the current television contract that prevents many fans in the Los Angeles area from seeing games and experiencing Scully’s poetic calls.
Plaschke wants the team to find a way to allow fans to be a part of Scully’s final season whether they have DirecTV or Time Warner Cable.
