Young fan wants to be Riley Curry’s valentine; Steph’s not so sure
In life, as in basketball, it is important to take advantage of opportunity when it comes your way. This young fan at Wednesday’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks has clearly already learned that lesson, making a very public play for the heart of the basketball world’s most beloved young lady via homemade sign:

Sure, we’re still a couple of weeks away from Feb. 14, but there’s nothing wrong with stating your intentions early … especially if you want to make a good impression on your intended’s old man, which the young suitor — named Lucas, age 4, according to “Poor Man’s Commish” of @LetsGoWarriors, — got the opportunity to do after his sign garnered enough attention to get him brought back to the locker room area at Oracle Arena to meet Riley Curry’s also-pretty-famous dad, reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry.
Like any dad, Steph was a bit protective of his daughter — at three years old, she’s a bit young for dating, really — but he did so with a kind and gentle approach.
“I don’t know if the answer’s yes or no, but it’s good to meet you,” said Steph with a smile.
Listen, Lucas, I’m just saying: that’s not a no, you know? Hold out hope. Be kind and brave and the fates (read: Steph and Ayanna) just might smile on you.
Whatever the Currys wind up deciding, it’s certain that Lucas isn’t the last prospective valentine to come knocking on Riley’s door … and heck, as we soon found out, he wasn’t even the first:
Wut?!? Apparently Lucas has to get in line! This was taken last week at Warriors-Pacers game https://t.co/wlwYTxovS0 pic.twitter.com/o9YVuuqCaQ

One can only hope that Steph’s able to remain as patient, poised and positive about this sort of thing as he’s been during his rise to superstardom on the court, because I’m pretty sure this is just the beginning for the Internet’s favorite daughter. I mean, if anyone would understand the importance of being totally unafraid to shoot your shot, it’d have to be Stephen Curry, right?
