Milan Lucic hits linesman with punch during scrum (Video)
Los Angeles Kings forward Milan Lucic seemed to accidentally punch a linesman in the face in a Wednesday game against the Colorado Avalanche.
The play came off a scrum in front of the Colorado net in the first period when the hulking Lucic tried to hit Colorado’s Cody McLeod and nailed linesman Jay Sharrers in the face instead.
Sharrers remained in the game after taking some of the brunt of Lucic’s fist.
Wednesday is Lucic’s first game back after serving a one-game suspension for sucker punching Arizona Coyotes forward Kevin Connauton last Saturday. This is the second instance of a player attacking a linesman on Wednesday night.
Earlier in the evening, Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman cross-checked linesman Don Henderson to the ice in his team’s game against the Nashville Predators.
Lucic was not assessed a penalty for the punch or his role in the scrum.
