MySpace co-founder offers to pay Giants if they keep Tim Lincecum
Remember MySpace? For people of a certain age it was their introduction to the online communities and social networks that are prevalent throughout the internet today.
Remember when Tim Lincecum was arguably the most dominant pitcher in baseball? He won back-to-back National League Cy Young awards in 2008 and 2009 and was still close to his peak when the San Francisco Giants won the World Series in 2010.
Tom Anderson, the co-founder of MySpace and infamously your first friend when you created an account on the site, wants to harken back to the days MySpace ruled the internet and Lincecum’s ERA was around 2.50. Lincecum remains a free agent and Anderson has offered the Giants to pay for Lincecum’s contract if that’s what it takes for them to re-sign the 31-year-old right-hander.

After signing Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija to big free-agent deals, there’s likely not a spot for Lincecum in the Giants’ rotation. But Lincecum, who is coming off hip surgery, is such a cult hero in San Francisco that Tom from MySpace is wiling to foot the bill to keep him around and maybe together they can reminisce about their glory days.
