Hey, you! Want to play quarterback for the Rams?
St. Louis Los Angeles Rams are in need of a starting quarterback, and they’re not ruling out anyone. And that could mean YOU!
Ever dream of being a Hollywood star? Well, you can’t. Sorry. Ever dream of being an NFL quarterback? Guess what, you could be! TheAll right, probably not. But the Rams rode Case Keenum and Nick Foles to a 7-9 record last year, and clearly are in the mood to change more than just their mailing address. Rams general manager Les Snead indicated that whoever claims the starting quarterback job for the Rams in 2016 will have earned it.
“If I learned one thing last year, we should have let the quarterbacks have a competition from the start and [let] the best man win instead of just passing the torch to Nick,” Snead told Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez on SiriusXM Radio from the Senior Bowl.
At least according to the Fox Sports writeup, Snead made sure to throw both coaches and players under the wheels of the Rams’ moving vans. He criticized the playcalling of first-year offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr., who didn’t even last the season before being fired. Snead also targeted the receiving corps for a lackluster end to the season, particularly a 19-16 season-ending loss to San Francisco.
“We had a chance to win four straight at the end of the year. Every wide receiver that dressed out dropped one ball that day. You can’t have that,” he said. “I think Nick’s season would have been better and coach Cignetti’s season would have been better and even Case’s last game would have been better had those guys stepped up.”
So the door is wide open at the QB position for the Rams. This, of course, is how rumors start, so if someone were to say RG3 COULD BE IN POSITION FOR RAMS QB JOB or JOHNNY MANZIEL IN A RAMS UNI NEXT YEAR?, well, they wouldn’t totally be wrong, would they?
