The SuperContest is a wrap, but that does not mean we can’t keep making picks against the spread. Here are my 2016 conference championship round picks.
The 2015 NFL regular season is a wrap, and it is time for the 2016 NFL playoffs. We have reached the conference championship round, which means we will soon know who will square off at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif. It’s time for my penultimate picks against the spread.
The Divisional round saw all four home teams advance, putting the top two teams on each side of the bracket in the conference title games. The last time this happened was 2004. This week, we have one home team favored and one road team favored. All lines and stats come courtesy of OddsShark, and as always the lines are subject to change, so check them out before making your wager.
New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos
Line: Patriots -3
Pick: Patriots – Heavy public money has been coming in on the Patriots, but the line has remained the same with sharp bettors looking at Denver. The Broncos advanced in spite of a less than stellar performance from Peyton Manning. Their defense is tough, but I think the Patriots’ offense has enough firepower to overcome them. This will not be a blowout, but the Patriots can get the cover.
Arizona Cardinals @ Carolina Panthers
Line: Panthers -3
Pick: Panthers – This line has not changed a lot over the course of the week, but it was just enough to make it interesting. Earlier in the week you could get the Cardinals as four-point underdogs. If this line was still Carolina -4, I would take Arizona. However, at -3, I’ll take my chances on no worse than a push.
