Linus Omark lights stick on fire, wins KHL All-Star shootout (Video)
During last year’s NHL Skills Competition in Columbus, Johnny Gaudreau of the Calgary Flames wanted to light his stick fire during one of the events. Sadly, the idea was nixed.
On Saturday, the KHL held their All-Star Skills Competition and shootout specialist extraordinaire Linus Omark managed to actually make Gaudreau’s idea come to life.
During the shootout trick shot competition, the Salavat Yulaev Ufa forward missed his first attempt then went to the bench for some assistance. There, Omark had his stick lit on fire and the twig remained ablaze during his attempt.
Despite missing on both attempts, Omark was named the winner of the contest for his creativity — mostly because no other competitor decided to one-up him and light themselves on fire as they skated in on goal.
The KHL All-Star trick shot competition has been a bastion of creativity over the years. Remember the spinning lacrosse move last year? Remember Vladimir Tarasenko’s puck on a string move? Remember the fish head?
Your move now, NHL All-Stars.
