Denna Laing honored by Bruins in touching pregame ceremony (Video)
Denna Laing has been in the thoughts of hockey fans since her significant spinal injury in the women’s outdoor game at the Winter Classic.
Recently, the NHL and the Boston Bruins have stepped up with financial support for the Boston Blades forward in her rehab and recovery.
On Thursday night, the Bruins further honored Laing with a touching pregame video that featured her hockey journey, and gave her a chance to address the fans that had supported through this. It culminated in her sisters taking part in the ceremonial puck drop.
“I wanted to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for all the love, support and prayers you’ve been sending my way,” said Laing, as the players tapped their sticks in tribute.
One of the greatest things about our hockey community is how it rallies around players who have been seriously injured playing an injurious game. Think, for example, about the outpouring for Jack Jablonski since he was paralyzed in a game back in 2011.
Hopefully, Denna Laing receives similar, enduring support.
Visit the Bruins home page for ways you can help Laing and her family.
