Randall Cobb has insane catch nullified, ruled out with injury
Insult, meet injury.
Wide receiver Randall Cobb, like many of his Green Bay Packers offensive teammates, has not had a season commensurate with his great talent. And so it’s perhaps only fitting that Cobb would come up with a Catch of the Year candidate against the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs … and that it wouldn’t count.
And that he would get hurt thereafter. Bad quickly turned to worse.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers noticed that the Cardinals had 12 defenders on the field late in the first quarter, and as he’s wont to do, snapped the ball quickly and Cobb caught on to what was happening. He ran a fly route and got open deep behind cornerback Justin Bethel, hauling in what looked like a “Wow!” catch for 51 yards down to the Arizona 3-yard line.

And, for good measure, a third:
Only one problem. There were offsetting penalties on the play, which is a do-over. Ouch. Kind of encapsulates the Packers’ season in a way, offensively.
But then after that, Cobb was carted off with a chest chest injury and quickly was ruled out. Although he looked to his family in the stands and gave them the thumbs-up sign, it was a horrible moment for the Packers, who are down to scraps at wide receiver without him.
