NFL picks against the spread: Predictions for divisional playoff round – Revenge of the Birds

There are only four games this weekend, so if you intend on making some wagers, there aren’t as many opportunities. But there should be four intriguing games. Vegas spreads say they believe there could be a couple of blowouts. Here are my picks for the divisional round of the playoffs, picking against the Vegas spread.
Chiefs at Patriots (-5): I don’t care how many wins in a row the Chiefs have. There is something fundamentally wrong if you don’t pick Tom Brady to win and cover at home in the postseason, especially when the opposing quarterback is Alex Smith. Now, you could say the odds are a tossup for a cover, and they are. Brady is 8-8-1 ATS in postseason home games in which he is favors. But two things guide my pick: I will not bet against Brady at home and I just don’t believe in the Chiefs still. Pats -5
Packers at Cardinals (-7): Say what you want, the Cardinals are 3-0 straight up and against the spread at home in the postseason. Carson Palmer is 12-7-1 at home with the Cardinals. Green 3-3-1 ATS in road playoff games with Aaron Rodgers. And after their win in Washington, many believe the Packers are “back.” I’m not buying it. They beat a bad Washington team who barely won the terrible NFC East. It won’t be a 30-point blowout this time around, but I think the smart money is on the Cardinals offense. Cardinals -7.
Seahawks at Panthers (-2): This game features perhaps the two most physical teams defensively in football. Two great quarterbacks face off in Cam Newton and Russell Wilson. The trends go both ways, but here is where I go. I think destiny has the Cardinals and Seahawks playing one another for the right to go to the Super Bowl. If Seattle beats the Panthers, they cover, so…Seahawks +2.
Steelers at Broncos (-7.5): No DeAngelo Williams. No Antonio Brown. Ben Roethlisberger might not be able to play and, if he does, might not be able to throw the ball down the field. Plus, Denver’s defense is really, really good. This seems like a lock. Broncos -7.5.
