Mountain Dew to sponsor three Hendrick cars in 2016
Three Hendrick Motorsports cars will share a primary sponsor in 2016.
Mountain Dew, a part-time primary sponsor for Dale Earnhardt Jr. since his move to Hendrick Motorsports, will also sponsor Chase Elliott and Kasey Kahne. The drink will be a primary sponsor for Elliott in two races and Kahne in one. The agreement is for three seasons and Mountain Dew will be an associate sponsor when it’s not a primary one.
Mountain Dew is owned by PepsiCo. Pepsi has been a longtime sponsor of Jeff Gordon, who retired after the 2015 season. Elliott is taking over his No. 24 car and will be sponsored for the majority of the season by NAPA, his sponsor in the Xfinity Series for the past two seasons.
Axalta, formerly DuPont, has moved from the No. 24 to Earnhardt Jr.’s car. The company will sponsor Junior in 13 races in 2016 and signed a three-year deal with the driver. Earnhardt Jr.’s main primary sponsor will continue to be Nationwide Insurance.
