White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson is a big fan of Chuck Norris
Throughout history, pop culture has created some exceptional duos: Abbott and Costello, Simon and Garfunkel and Joe Montana and Jerry Rice stand out. Thanks to Chicago White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson, we may have found our next iconic pair.
Anyone who has listened to Hawk, or has seen some of the interesting outfits he sported in the past, probably isn’t shocked he loves Chuck Norris. Somehow, it just fits.
It makes sense, too. Hawk is no stranger to letting his emotions fly in the booth. If he believes an umpire is killing the White Sox, he has no problem telling the viewers know about it. Maybe he’s watching “Walker, Texas Ranger” so he can pick up some sweet roundhouse kicks in case that action ever escalates to the booth?
Hawk is set to take on a lesser role as the White Sox’s announcer this season. The 74-year-old is planning to just work road games for the club this year. The White Sox have named announcer Jason Benetti as Hawk’s replacement for home games this season. Hawk has even admitted that he could retire following the 2016 season if the Sox don’t play well.

Even if that doesn’t happen, it’s starting to look like Hawk’s time in the booth is coming to an end. Before he leaves, maybe the White Sox will finally put this pair together. Anyone who tells you they wouldn’t tune in to a game featuring Hawk on play-by-play and Norris on color commentary deserves a quick uppercut to the face.
