NHL Three Stars: Bennett’s 4 goals breaks Panthers; Getzlaf demoted then rebounds
No. 1 Star: Sam Bennett, Calgary Flames
It was a really good night for the 19-year-old. After a mere 17:01 in to the game, the forward completed a hat-trick against the Florida Panthers. To bookend the 6-0 trouncing by the Flames, Bennett added a fourth goal and it was a beauty.
No. 2 Star: Shea Theodore, Anaheim Ducks
Eight games into his NHL career, Theodore was still looking for his first NHL point. He decided to make his first one count big time as it came on the power play and held up as the game winner for the Ducks. Theodore’s goal was the first of three scored by the Ducks in a five minutes to beat the Ottawa Senators 4-1.
No. 3 Star: Jakub Voracek, Philadelphia Flyers
Voracek factored into all three of the tallies put up by the Flyers in their 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins. He scored the opening goal of the game and then assisted on the two goals leading to a comeback victory for Philly.
Honorable Mention: Joonas Korpisalo earned his second win of the season against in a 41 save effort against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Seth Jones earned his first point as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2-1 win … Claude Giroux picked up 3 assists in the win. Watch Luke Schenn absolutely destroy Tory Krug:
… Jonas Hiller appeared in net for the Flames for the first time since December 12. He earned a shut-out in a relatively slow night with only 15 saves against. When Bennett wasn’t scoring, Johnny Gaudreau and Mason Raymond pitched in a goal each … Andrew Cogliano, Jakob Silfverberg, and Carl Hagelin netted one goal each in the game and was the fourth goal of the season for each player. Frederik Andersen made his first start since January 1 and picked up the win on 24 saves.

Dishonorable Mention: Dion Phaneuf was whistled for a hooking penalty in an attempt to prevent Cam Atkinson from sinking the puck in an empty net. John Tortorella made it very clear he thought it should have been an automatic goal instead of a penatly:
… David Pastrnak was a late scratch for the Bruins. He is day-to-day with an upper-body injury … The Panthers miss Aaron Ekblad, who was out of the lineup again. Roberto Luongo was pulled after giving up 4 goals on 15 shots in the first period … Until Ryan Getzlaf redeemed himself on the Shea Theodore goal, he was benched for 8:30 and dropped to the fourth line following an all too frequent turnover leading directly to a goal:
