Patriots’ Chandler Jones hospitalized Sunday, but details lacking
A strange story deveoping around New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones: on Tuesday, the Boston Herald reported that Jones was rushed to a local hospital on Sunday after showing up to the Foxboro Police Department with a medical emergency. Gillette Stadium is in Foxboro, and Jones lives in the town as well.
The Patriots don’t deny that part of the story, releasing a statement confirming that Jones, a first-time Pro Bowler this season, was hospitalized:
But as of Tuesday night, all of the other details of why Jones needed medical care are sketchy.
According to the Herald, Foxboro Police dispatch record show that Jones, 25, arrived at the station at 7:42 a.m. Sunday and was evaluated by fire and EMS officials before being brought to Norwood Hospital.
But Foxboro Police Chief Edward T. O’Leary confirmed that information was deleted from those dispatch records before being released to the newspaper, and initially denied his department or its officers had any dealing with Jones.

However, records obtained by the Herald showed at least five officers were in a parking lot in back of the police station where Jones was being evaluated. And according to the dispatch report, another officer was dispatched to Jones’ home to “secure the residence.”
O’Leary claimed he did not speak to any of his officers who handled the case, so he did not know what the medical emergency was.
Lou Merloni, a former Major League Baseball player who is now a host on sports radio WEEI, reported on Twitter that Jones was disheveled when he showed up to the police station:
While Chris Curtis, a producer at WEEI, reported that Jones had overdosed.
Jones, a first-round draft pick out of Syracuse in 2012, had 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception in 15 games this season.
