Hurricanes score wacky goal off Marc-Andre Fleury’s back (Video)
It’s often said that a goalie “had no chance on that one,” but seriously: Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury had no chance to stop this Carolina Hurricanes goal by Kris Versteeg on Tuesday night.
Versteeg fired the puck off the stick of Sidney Crosby, and it deflected off the end boards. The puck then sailed back over the net … and off the back of Fleury, and into the net for what was a 2-0 lead for the Hurricanes.
Actually there was one guy who might have had a shot at stopping that goal, as defenseman Ben Lovejoy made a desperation lunge to clear the puck but alas, it was too late.
(Penguins fans: “Simon Despres would have had it …”)
Penguins coach Mike Sullivan got a look at the replay:
And this is what he looked like.
