Wizards G Wall to have precautionary knee MRI
Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall will undergo a precautionary MRI on his sore left knee Tuesday.
Wall told the Washington Post that the exam will be on the vastus medialis obliquus muscle located just above his knee. He also told the Post that he doesn’t expect to miss any games because of the injury.
“I can’t even bend my knee without it being sore,” Wall told the Post. “So that’s the thing that gets frustrating. But other than that, just got to go out there and compete.”
Wall, 25, has started all 36 of Washington’s games despite dealing with multiple minor injuries this season, including an ankle sprain, bruised ribs and a sprained knee. He is averaging a career-high 19.6 points and 9.6 assists per game — second-best in the NBA.
“He’s going to play,” Wizards coach Randy Wittman told the Post. “He doesn’t feel the greatest but that’s who he is. He loves the game. He loves playing. He doesn’t like sitting out and it took five broken bones to get him to sit out last year, and then he still came back.”
Wall had 17 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in Monday’s 114-100 victory over the Bulls in Chicago. The Wizards, who have been short-handed because of injuries to Bradley Beal, Marcin Gortat, Kris Humphries and Nene Hilario, have their next game Wednesday against the Bucks.
