Here’s the field for the 2016 Sprint Unlimited
NASCAR revealed the 2016 Sprint Unlimited field on Monday.
Drivers eligible for the pre-Daytona 500 exhibition race run on Saturday, Feb. 13 are 2015 pole winners, all 2015 Chase drivers, former Daytona 500 pole winners and drivers who have won the Sprint Unlimited and the highest remaining drivers in points to fill the 25 car field.
Got all that? Here’s the list.
• AJ Allmendinger
• Kurt Busch
• Kyle Busch
• Carl Edwards
• Denny Hamlin
• Kevin Harvick
• Jimmie Johnson
• Kasey Kahne
• Matt Kenseth
• Brad Keselowski
• Jeff Gordon
• Joey Logano
• Dale Earnhardt Jr.
• Tony Stewart
• Greg Biffle
• Austin Dillon
• David Gilliland
• Danica Patrick
• Martin Truex Jr.
• Clint Bowyer
• Jamie McMurray
• Paul Menard
• Ryan Newman
• Aric Almirola
• Kyle Larson
You’ll notice that Jeff Gordon is on the list. He won’t be running the race and Casey Mears, the next-highest driver in points will take his spot. David Gilliland doesn’t have a ride currently for 2016, and if he doesn’t run the race, Ricky Stenhouse will get in.
Chase Elliott won’t be eligible for the race under this criteria. We’re only mentioning that to add this tweet to our post.
I thought if you had a valid drivers license you were eligible. #BringBackTheClash https://t.co/EdITmNlpXc
