NHL suspends Zach Sill two games for boarding Adam McQuaid
The NHL has suspended Washington Capitals forward Zach Sill for two games following a hit from behind on Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid Tuesday night.
At first blush, you might disagree with the decision and just label it a hard check along the boards. But upon closer view you see that Sill drives through McQuaid’s back with the Bruins defenseman’s numbers facing him the entire time. Add the fact that McQuaid didn’t make a major movements ahead of the hit and that adds up to discipline.
No penalty was called on the play. Sill will forfeit $6,182.80 in salary.
McQuaid did not practice on Wednesday and there was no update given by the team. Bruins head coach Claude Julien said he wasn’t sure if McQuaid would be joining them on their upcoming five-game road trip.
