Why does Brian Urlacher suddenly have lots of hair? I asked him
Brian Urlacher suddenly has hair, a good amount of it, and it’s wild to look at.
The retired Chicago Bears linebacker has been bald since … birth? Ok, at least since his rookie year in 2000, when he had slightly more hair than a newborn. Which is fine, of course.
And all through his career, Urlacher was known for his mostly clean (close cropped?) dome. But now here Urlacher is, on Tuesday morning, talking about his newfound hair.
This is stunning. He’ll be 38 in the spring. Men our age (I’m a wee bit older) don’t suddenly regrow hair. Unless, of course, it’s chemical. Or — gasp — surgical.
We’re not shills here at the Shutdown Corner, we swear, but this snake oil appears to be legit! I’d lather that stuff all over my receding widow’s peaks in a second. This could be a real game changer.
Here’s their ad on Twitter:
To this point, I was in. But … Is this really hair regrowth? Some kind of hair-in-a-can spray? Does it tickle? Can anyone use it? Only celebrities and royalty? So many questions.
And then right when I was about to hit “send” on this story, just after I arrived at the 120 Sports studio to get ready for the “Football Fix” show I appear on, there’s Urlacher on set talking — about his hair, and other things — to the “Morning Run” guys.
When he came off the set, I asked Urlacher about the product. His promoter said the Katona phones are blowing up this morning.
“Guys like you, you don’t need help. I need help,” Urlacher told me, running his hand through his new mane, “and I got it. But I also wore it short by choice before.”
So it turns out that Urlacher, who was seen without any hair as recently as a month ago, had surgery — they took out 4,000 hair follicles from the back of his head and placed them up front. An eight-hour surgery to boot! And now he looks like what you see above.
What a time to be alive! And extra hairy.
