Bulls' Rose expected back after missing 3 games
CHICAGO — Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is expected to play Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks after missing the past three games because of a sore right hamstring and a sore right knee. Rose had an MRI on that knee on Monday that showed no structural damage and went through Monday’s pregame activities.
“Unless there’s a setback, yeah [he’ll play],” Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said. “Still a little bit unsure … if he has any type of soreness or if he wakes up with any type of swelling as the day goes on, we’ll take a cautious approach. But it was good to see him out there in shootaround. He had his legs [under him], and hopefully he’ll be able to go.”
Rose is officially listed as questionable for the game.
The Bulls want to take the cautious approach because of Rose’s past knee issues. He tore the ACL in his left knee in April 2012 and missed the entire following season. He tore the medial meniscus in his right knee in November 2013 and had a meniscectomy in the same knee in February 2015.
Rose has struggled to find a rhythm over the first part of the season, but he was playing his best basketball of the season before this latest setback. He is averaging 21.3 points over his past three games and has been noticeably more aggressive going to the basket. The Bulls are hoping he will get back into a groove quickly.
In other Bulls injury news, Joakim Noah is out with a right shoulder sprain, while Mike Dunleavy remains out with a back injury.
