Pittsburgh restaurant sending sandwiches to Bills as a ‘thank you’
As a thank you for sending their Steelers to the playoffs, Pittsburgh lunch institution Primanti Brothers is sending some sandwiches to front office members of the Buffalo Bills, whose victory over the New York Jets on Sunday helped Ben Roethlisberger & Co. reach the postseason for the second consecutive year.
There goes Rex Ryan’s diet. Let’s just hope the Bills head coach shares with the rest of the team.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Primanti Bros. is sending its Almost Famous sandwiches at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. “I think we’ll probably toss in a Terrible Towel or two,” general manager Toni Haggerty told the newspaper. For those unfamiliar, here’s the restaurant’s description of the “sammich.”
Itâs an edible Pittsburgh institution. You can get it with salami. Or with turkey. Or roast beef. Or even with no meat at all. But it’s not a Primanti Bros. signature sandwich without a generous serving of crunchy, tart coleslaw and crisp French Fries piled high on top of soft Italian bread. It all makes your hands look very, very small and your taste buds wonder why youâre taking so long between bites.
After Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick threw three fourth-quarter interceptions to deliver Buffalo’s 22-17 victory on Sunday, which combined with Pittsburgh’s 28-12 win over the Cleveland Browns gave the Steelers the AFC’s sixth seed, Pimanti Bros. began a deal on buffalo wings for the remainder of the day.Â
Folks in Pittsburgh seemed to be big fans of the idea.
Likewise, Bills fans were hoping Primanti Bros. would send a few extra sandwiches their way.
As for Jets fans? They’re probably not so hungry this morning.
