Ohio State LB Darron Lee turning pro
Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee is going to the 2016 NFL draft.
Lee, a redshirt sophomore, made the announcement on Twitter.
Lee has been one of Ohio State’s best defensive players over the past two seasons. He had 66 tackles and 11 tackles for a loss in 2015. He also had 4.5 sacks. In 2014, he had 80 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
He joins teammates Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott and Cardale Jones in declaring for the draft. Bosa, a possible No. 1 pick, was ejected from Ohio State’s Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame on Friday in the first quarter because of a targeting penalty.
A native of Ohio, Lee was a three-star recruit as an athlete in the class of 2013 according to Rivals. He bulked up from his listed weight of 195 pounds in high school to become a pivotal linebacker as Ohio State won the 2015 College Football Playoff.
