NFL Picks Against the Spread 2015: Week 17 Games – Bleeding Green Nation
Here are my suggestions when trying to beat the odds.
Before Week 17 of the 2015 NFL season schedule kicks off, I thought we would have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for this week’s round of games. (Click here for NFL Week 17 picks without regard to the spread.)
Here are my suggestions when trying to beat the odds. You can find all of today’s NFL betting lines and more at the SB Nation odds page via OddsShark. My record so far this season is 103-108-6 after going 5-9 last week. I need a strong performance this week to finish with a winning record.
2015 NFL WEEK 17 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD
New England Patriots (-10) at Miami Dolphins: The Patriots usually have the luxury of resting their starters in Week 17 but they’re going to want to make sure they get the No. 1 seed. The Dolphins are lifeless and the Pats will roll here. Pick: Patriots -10
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (-5): I don’t like betting on the Falcons, but I don’t like betting on the Saints on the road either. Atlanta is generally playing better recently. They beat Carolina last week so maybe they can beat the Saints and their awful defense. Pick: Falcons -5
Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys (-4): Dallas is favored here because Washington doesn’t really have anything to play for. It sounds like Washington’s starters might get some limited playing time, however. Dallas is basically tanking and I don’t trust Kellen Moore to do much. Washington should be able to at least make this game lose. Pick: Washington +4
New York Jets (-3) at Buffalo Bills: Rex Ryan is really going to want to beat the Jets in order to prevent them from making the playoffs. Unfortunately for him, I don’t think he’ll get his wish. The Jets will win. Pick: Jets -3
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants (-5): This season has been incredibly frustrating for Eagles fans. Why not top it off with a meaningless win that will only serve to make everyone more pissed off?! Pick: Eagles +5
Pittsburgh Steelers (-11) at Cleveland Browns: The Steelers are still alive in the playoff picture so they’ll obviously be motivated to get this win. Mike Pettine is reportedly going to be out in Cleveland so he’s somewhat of a dead man walking. After struggling last week, I think the Steelers will get back on track here. Pick: Steelers -11
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-6): I have no idea who the Colts are going to start at quarterback. Neither do they, probably. So with that said I’ll take the points. Pick: Titans +6
Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals (-10): This Ravens team is still fighting hard for John Harbaugh. They beat the Steelers last week. Baltimore won’t beat Cincy here but they might be able to keep it respectable. Pick: Ravens +10
Detroit Lions (-1) at Chicago Bears: Don’t look now but the Lions have looked pretty solid since Jim Bob Cooter took over as the team’s offensive coordinator. Matthew Stafford has been playing well. Meanwhile, Chicago has been slumping. The Lions can get this done. Pick: Lions -1
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans (-7): I’ve bet on the Jags the past couple of weeks and they’ve let me down. Memo to self: don’t count on Gus Bradley. Brandon Weeden is much more reliable. Wait, what … Pick: Texans -7
St. Louis Rams (-3.5) at San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers are so much worse than their record indicates, and they only have four wins. Think about that. Pick: Rams -3.5
San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos (-9): The Broncos beat the Chargers a few weeks ago in San Diego by a final score of 17 to 3. This game could be even worse for the Bolts. Pick: Broncos -9
Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5): Andy Reid is going to play his starters against the Raiders, but it’s possible he pulls them at some point depending how other games go. With that in mind, I have to take the points. Pick: Raiders +7.5
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (-7): The Cardinals won’t be resting their starters. Arizona is such a good team. Too hard to bet against them. Pick: Cardinals -7
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (-11): I can’t see the Panthers having another letdown performance this week. Not to mention that the Bucs have looked bad. Pick: Panthers -11
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-3): If the Packers lose this game, they will have been swept at home by their division rivals this year. That probably doesn’t happen too often. It might here, though. This Packers team isn’t really dominant and the Vikings have played well recently. Let’s go with Minny for the final game of the 2015 regular season. Pick: Vikings +3
