Joe Pavelski takes out Bryan Little with check to the head (Video)
San Jose Sharks forward Joe Pavelski received a two-minute minor penalty for an illegal check to the head of Winnipeg Jets forward Bryan Little in Saturday’s game between the two teams at SAP Center.
In the above video, it appears Little has his head down as he cuts to the San Jose net. Pavelski then hit into Little, sending the Winnipeg forward to the ground.
Little was slow to get up after the play and went to the Jets’ dressing room. He then returned shortly after.
Before the Pavelski hit, both teams got into a bit of a scrum after Jets defenseman Toby Enstrom took out Sharks forward Joe Thornton. Enstrom was called for interference.
The Jets defeated the Sharks 4-1 off goals by Joel Armia, Drew Stafford, Nikolaj Ehlers and Mathieu Perreault. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck moved to 8-4-0 on the season. With the win, the Jets moved to 18-18-2 on the year. Winnipeg has won three of their last four games.
Wth the loss, the Sharks remained one point out of the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division. The Vancouver Canucks hold that space with 39 points. San Jose remained stuck on 38 points.
