James Worthy was very happy about the Lakers beating the Celtics
Sure, it’s been more than 21 years since James Worthy last laced ’em up in the NBA, but even retired Los Angeles Lakers get pretty fired up by wins over the Boston Celtics, like the one Kobe Bryant and company authored on Wednesday. Still, I didn’t expect Big Game James to get this amped at the 112-104 road win during the Time Warner Cable SportsNet Lakers postgame show:

The suicides and defensive slides were impressive enough, James, but what was that last part again?
Oh, OK. I guess I did hear you right the first time.
Hey, James: I know this might be a weird question, because he’s no longer professionally affiliated with the Boston Celtics and has in fact for nearly two decades served as either a coach or executive with the Indiana Pacers, but still, I’m just wondering: do you have anything you’d like to say to Larry Bird after this Lakers win?
Oh! You did! I’m glad I asked.
Hey, fellow former Laker and current Time Warner Cable SportsNet analyst Robert Horry: just out of curiosity, what’s your take on this whole situation?
Oh, OK, cool. I’m glad I asked!
It’s pretty tremendous that Worthy’s animosity toward all things green and Boston-y persists to such a degree that a win improving the Lakers to 6-27 elicits this kind of excitement. Behold, the face of pure joy:
What a wonderful way for the Laker legend to end 2015. A simple and hopeful wish: may we all find this level of happiness in 2016.
