Kris Bryant got engaged and Anthony Rizzo mourned their bromance
It’s going to be tough to argue anyone had a better 2015 than Chicago Cubs rookie Kris Bryant. The 23-year-old not only reached the majors, but performed well enough to get elected to the All-Star Game and win the Rookie of the Year award. On top of that, he also helped lead the Cubs to the NLCS.
Those accomplishments alone would be enough to give Bryant the completely made up “Best Year Ever” award. Being an overachiever, Bryant added another significant milestone to the year. He decided to get engaged.
Good luck trying to top Bryant’s 2015. We don’t think it can be done.
As expected, Bryant received plenty of encouraging notes congratulating him for his latest triumph. There was one notable exception, however. While Bryant’s teammate Anthony Rizzo was happy for the couple, he also expressed some sadness over the event.Â
During the season, both Bryant and Rizzo appeared to strike up quite the bromance. This caused some to give them the nickname “Bryzzo,” which Rizzo references above. Sadly, it looks like this could be the end of “Bryzzo.” We hardly knew ye!
Thankfully, there are plenty of candidates on the Cubs who can take Bryant’s place in this bromance. Schwrizzo could work for Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber. Or Rizzo could go with Rizward in honor of new teammate Jason Heyward. We also haven’t ruled out AR2 for Rizzo and Addison Russell.
There are a lot of possibilities here. We’re confident Rizzo will strongly consider each candidate before settling on a new partner in crime. Until then, the world waits on bated breath.
