Curry (leg) questionable vs. Mavs, getting MRI
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry missed morning shootaround for Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks so he could get an MRI on a lower left leg injury.
The Warriors have listed Curry as questionable for Wednesday’s game in Dallas. Warriors interim coach Luke Walton said after Tuesday’s practice that Curry could also miss Thursday’s game in Houston against the Rockets.
“There’s a chance that he won’t play in one or both [games],” Walton said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “That’s probably going to be a game-time decision, or at least determined on how he’s feeling tomorrow.”
Also, Warriors backup guard Leandro Barbosa will not play Wednesday because of a sprained left shoulder.
Curry did not practice Tuesday, one day after he recorded his sixth career triple-double in Golden State’s 122-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
Curry was bothered by a strained right calf in Golden State’s victory against Cleveland on Christmas Day, but this injury is to his other leg. A source told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that Curry suffered the injury in Monday’s game against Sacramento.
Walton told reporters that Curry wants to play Wednesday in Dallas. The reigning NBA MVP, Curry is averaging a league-leading 30.5 points per game this season.
“He hasn’t said anything except for he wants to play,” Walton said, according to the Mercury News. “Even last night in the game, when I saw him in the game limping and I tried to take him out, he gave the wave-off and said that it was fine.”
