Wife of Dolphins player blasts Ryan Tannehill in Twitter tirade
In a Twitter tirade that isn’t just unsafe for work, but unsuitable for human consumption, the wife of Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes blasted the team’s quarterback and three Miami media members.
You may recall Miko Grimes as the allegedly “belligerent” wife of a three-time Pro Bowl defensive back who was charged with head-butting a law enforcement officer before a Dolphins-Bills game in September. Believe it or not, those charges, which have since been dropped, are tame compared to what Grimes said on social media about Miami QB Ryan Tannehill and a group of reporters she’s dubbed “the triple A’s”: The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero and Adam Beasley and the Palm Beach Post’s Andrew Abramson.
We’ll start with her comments on Tannehill, since he is her husband’s teammate. Now, imagine how awkward the workplace would get if your wife ever publicly expressed the following about a coworker:
the entire tirade that didn’t feature expletives. She said worse about Tannehill, and then somehow managed to dial it up another several notches when attacking the media.
Those are two of the only tweets in
Again, these are the tame tweets. In a blog post describing a personal confrontation with Miko Grimes and humorously detailing the inaccuracy of her accusations, Salguero wrote, “In a tweet Sunday evening, Mrs. Grimes suggested the three reporters have intercourse with Magic Johnson’s sexual organ.” The Herald reporter took issue with Grimes’ suggestion he’s been less critical of Tannehill than the Dolphins defense, chronicling his own equal opportunity criticism of a terrible 5-10 team. Salguero also reported:
The Dolphins met with Grimes and his wife at that time to explain that was not proper use of her press privileges. The Dolphins, you should know, have met with Brent Grimes about his wife at least five different occasions to express concern over Mrs. Grimes’ colorful personality. At least five. Joe Philbin told me in the preseason he told Grimes in a meeting that he needed to address with his wife her social media behavior because, like it or not, it reflected poorly on the organization.
Due $9.5 million next season and another $8.5 million in 2017, Brent Grimes is the third-highest paid member of the Dolphins defense behind former All-Pro linemen Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake. Considering Miami ranks among the five worst teams in almost every defensive category, Miko Grimes isn’t making it any easier on her husband if he hopes to avoid being among the roster cuts this summer.
