Guards
Evan Fournier ORL 61 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues – Fournier got off to a ridiculous start, then was unplayable for a stretch, and is now rolling again, averaging 15.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.0 3-pointers in 30-plus minutes over his last four games. If he was dropped and you picked him up, nice work.
Ish Smith PHI 32% – As you know, Smith was traded back to his former team, the Sixers, and they waived Tony Wroten, which is a good sign. Smith played well in his first game with the 76ers during a 111-104 win over the Suns on Saturday, scoring 14 points with two rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer. He averaged 12.4 points, 4.5 boards, 8.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 14 November games for the Pelicans earlier this season, so there’s a good chance he can do similar work for his new team, and last night was a great start!
Terrence Ross TOR 12% – Ross has quietly scored in double digits in six straight games and is averaging 16.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 4.2 3-pointers over his last five. Those 3-pointers alone make him worth owning and I’m frankly shocked he’s sitting at just 12 percent ownership.
Jeremy Lin CHA 41% – Lin blew up for 35 points and a nice line back on Dec. 17 and has kept it rolling since. He’s averaging 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, a block and 1.4 3-pointers on 48 percent shooting over his last five games, scoring in double figures in all of them and playing 33 minutes a game. And his hair is kinda fun.
Garrett Temple WAS 17% – Temple went on a three-game tear last week in which he scored 20-plus points and even with a dud thrown in, is averaging 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.2 3-pointers over his last five. As long as Bradley Beal is out, Temple looks like a serviceable addition. Ramon Sessions is also worth a look, but I prefer the hot hand of Temple right now.
Allen Crabbe POR 11% – Crabbe has set career scoring highs in three of his last nine games, including a 26-point explosion on Saturday night. He’s averaging 15.8 points, 3.0 boards, 1.2 assists and 1.6 3-pointers on 43 percent shooting over his last five games, and while he’s been helped by injuries to C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard, he’s still played well enough to be a factor when both are back and healthy. CJM is already there and Lillard is getting close. Now we just have to hope his best games of the season haven’t already happened.
J.J. Barea DAL 9% – Deron Williams has been out with a hamstring injury and still doesn’t have a timetable on his return. JJB has gone for 32 and 26 points in each of his last two games and he could stay hot for another week or so if Williams stays in street clothes. Even with three mediocre games, JJB is averaging 16.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.0 3-pointers over his last five games. He should be owned as long as Williams is out.
Gerald Green MIA 26% – Green’s been a little inconsistent over his last five but is still averaging 13.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, a steal and 2.8 3-pointers over his last five. And if Dwyane Wade ever suffers an injury, Green would likely become a must-own player.
Devin Booker PHX 2% – Eric Bledsoe hurt his knee on Saturday and it didn’t look great. Booker started the second half and racked up 19 points and three 3-pointers, and if Bledsoe is going to miss time (I bet he does), Booker is certainly worth a flier – especially with the Suns going five times this week!
Ronnie Price PHX 0% – Price somehow scored 20 on Wednesday night and played 23 minutes on Saturday, when Bledsoe went down. He’s another player that may be worth a deep-league flier with five games this week.
