Falcons’ Tevin Coleman in concussion program after falling in shower
The Atlanta Falcons may be without backup running back Tevin Coleman on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers – the team announced on Thursday that the rookie had slipped in the shower at the team’s facility the day before and is in concussion protocol.
Coach Dan Quinn said Coleman’s availability for the game is uncertain, as he now must pass through the stages of the league’s concussion program before getting the green light to be on the field.
“[He] fell and hit his head, and he is in the concussion protocol,” Quinn said. “That’s unfortunate.”

A third-round pick out of Indiana, Coleman began the season as the Falcons’ starting back before suffering a fractured rib in Week 2. Devonta Freeman took over as the lead back, and has had a Pro Bowl season, with 907 yards rushing and 543 yards receiving. His 10 rushing touchdowns are tied with Cincinnati’s Jeremy Hill for most in the NFL.
Coleman has 87 carries for 392 yards and a touchdown this season.
