Catch of the Year countdown: Josh Donaldson owns the seats (No. 2)
Editor’s note: This week, Big League Stew is counting down our five favorite MLB catches of 2015. Come back each day to see who lands at No. 1.
Josh Donaldson won the American League MVP in 2015, so he proved there’s not much he can’t do on a baseball field. While he wowed us most with his offensive numbers, Donaldson’s abilities in the field might sometimes get overlooked.
If you need proof that Donaldson is impressive at third base, then look no further than this catch from June 24 against the Tampa Bay Rays. Donaldson dove into the crowd and came away with an incredible grab. He’s conquered foul territory before, but the daring nature of Donaldson’s grab here isn’t like many we see too often.
To make things even more impressive, Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada was working on a perfect game at the time. While catching a foul ball in the stands didn’t exactly save the perfect game, it was the eighth inning and every single out counted toward Estrada’s bid for perfection, which was actually broken up by the next better. Nonetheless, we still got this classic from Donaldson.
PREVIOUSLY IN THIS SERIES:

• No. 4: Mike Trout the homer thief
• No. 3: Kevin Kiermaier got hops
