Fox Sports picks John Smoltz to replace Harold Reynolds, Tom Verducci for … – TheCelebrityCafe.com
The 2016 World Series will have a different team calling games with Joe Buck. Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz has been picked to replace former second baseman Harold Reynolds and Sports Illustrated writer Tom Verducci.
The New York Daily News first reported on the shake-up, which Fox Sports later confirmed.
Verducci and Reynolds were called in to replace Tim McCarver when he retired after the 2013 season, notes Sports Illustrated. The two were called in after their work as MLB Network analysts. They will still have roles at Fox Sports, though.
Smoltz was first hired by Fox last year and has also been at the MLB Network, calling games with Matt Vasgersian. They also called the 2015 World Series for MLB International and wound up calling part of Game 1 in Kansas City when Fox Sports briefly lost power.
Smoltz pitched from 1988 to 2009 and won a World Series with the Atlanta Braves. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the 2015 class.
