Catch of the Year countdown: Mike Trout the homer thief (No. 4)
Editor’s note: This week, Big League Stew is counting down our five favorite MLB catches of 2015. Come back each day to see who lands at No. 1.
Mike Trout is so good at baseball that what’s amazing for another player is just another thing on his weekly to-do list. “Rob a homer with half my torso over the wall? No problem.”

So that’s what Trout found himself doing, again, on Sept. 26 when he took a homer away from Jesus Montero of the Seattle Mariners. Your eyes say it’s impressive. The metrics back that up too. According to Statcast, Trout covered 88.4 feet to make the catch and traveled at a top-speed of 17.4 mph.
And that doesn’t even include the jump, which Trout makes look super easy. The timing is impeccable, the leap is precise, he uses the wall perfectly and the final product is a fantastic catch. Being that he’s Mike Trout, though, this isn’t even his most famous home-run thievery. And being that he’s Mike Trout, we sort of take these things for granted from him.
