Well that was a good week for me! I managed to pick up some good wins on MondoGoal, I had a very strong 86-point haul in the Premier League game and amazingly managed 138.75 points in Perfect XI even though I completely forgot to change my team! That’s a very refreshing feeling!

Last week’s predictions were a missed bag; I predicted the 3-1 score line for the Chelsea’s match but also listed Manchester United as the favourites to win their match – you can’t get them all right I guess! I suppose the biggest turn up for the books was the Chelsea performance at home to Sunderland. What can I say? Personally I’m not sure whether I believe that the Chelsea players have done their team and their fans a significant disservice or not. On the face of it I can see why many fans believe that the players were playing badly only to come back on-line when Jose left. I’m not convinced – they were playing Sunderland after all who conceded 11 more goals away than they scored over the previous six weeks. What do you all think? At home to Ighalo and his merry men should be a more significant test.

Let’s look at this week’s predictor.

Predictor

Well that’s a turn up for the books. After a few weeks with loads of choices, we now have only three teams that have over a 50% chance of success; City, Spurs and Newcastle. The first two both play at home to teams in the bottom five and who are both pretty awful on their travels. The last are at home to Everton who just lost out to Leicester. I’m usually pretty good at picking these things and I say forget about their home team advantage, Newcastle should lose this and Lukaku (who is rapidly closing in on Vardy’s goal-scoring record) should score. As we look at the ‘away’ end of the table, Arsenal look favourites against Southampton and I can see Ozil and his men getting all three points especially after Southampton’s performance against Spurs. Then there’s Leicester vs Liverpool but I guess I don’t need to tell anyone to have Mahrez in their team huh? The game that I’m most interested in is Villa at home to West Ham – I think the villains might actually get something out of this but I couldn’t suggest with any accuracy where the goals might come from.

Poisson

Unsurprisingly there looks t be goals in the City vs Sunderland match although the Poisson does suggest that Sunderland will find the net. Leicester vs Liverpool also looks to have a couple of goals in it for the Foxes although it will be interesting to see the effect that Vardy’s injury has on the team. The Arsenal match looks similar and I’ll certainly be having a smattering of Gooners in my squads. Those looking for clean sheets should focus on the Swansea vs. West Brom match – it doesn’t look like there will be a lot happening there! It also suggests that you should look to choose West Ham defenders. I can’t argue with the stats but teams (with the exception of Derby) are unlikely to sink without at least some fight and the Villains will need to concentrate on winning their home games.
