Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant honored with keys to Las Vegas
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. At least that’s what the giant welcome sign says as you enter the Entertainment Capital of the World.
We can make a slight amendment to that though. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, unless your name is Bryce Harper or Kris Bryant. In that case, your talents become known worldwide before you graduate high school and now you get to take your traveling show to the biggest baseball stages across North America.

For that, we’re all very thankful.
Of course, when baseball season finally ends and the Las Vegas natives have an opportunity to retreat home to hang out and workout, that’s exactly what they do. Though this time when they returned home, they added a special presentation to their agenda as Mayor Carolyn Goodman presented each with a key to the city.
When you’re the reigning National League MVP and Rookie of the Year respectively, the world is truly yours. But there’s likely nothing more special than being honored by your very own city, and there’s no more special honor than being handed the key to the city.
Indeed that’s a pretty cool honor for the hometown boys.

The scary thing though is that both are still so young — Harper just turned 23 and Bryant will be 23 until Jan. 4 — and their legacies are only just beginning to take shape. Perhaps 15-20 years from now when both have earned contracts considerably larger than anything we’ve seen to date, they will actually own the city and hand out keys to their kingdom.
It could happen. Don’t bet against them.
