Brem posts fastest time in 1st leg of WCup giant slalom (The Associated Press)

Austrian skier Eva-Maria Brem posted the fastest time in the first leg of a World Cup giant slalom race ahead of Swiss skier Lara Gut. American Lindsey Vonn hoped to bounce back after skiing off course and failing to finish Saturday’s downhill in Val d’Isere, which Gut won. Although Vonn made a strong start in sunny and mild conditions, she lost speed down the Emile-Allais course and trails Brem by .89 in 10th.
