Yurkiw hopes that 2nd career podium attracts new sponsors (The Associated Press)
VAL D’ISERE, France (AP) — When Larisa Yurkiw crossed the finish line after finishing third in Saturday’s World Cup downhill race for her second career podium, she quickly replaced her race helmet with a warm ski hat. The 27-year-old Canadian skier, who overcame a serious leg injury in crash six years ago, races for a self-funded team called Team Larisa. Although she has some sponsors’ logos on her ski jacket, she has been working hard to find new ones – even in the days leading up to this weekend’s racing in the French resort of Val d’Isere.
