Ex-Georgia QB Faton Bauta lands at Colorado State
Faton Bauta is reuniting with Mike Bobo.
Bauta, who announced his intent to transfer from Georgia earlier this month, is headed to Colorado State for his final season of college football. Bobo just finished his first season as CSU’s head coach after spending eight seasons as Georgia’s offensive coordinator.
Bobo announced the news on Twitter on Friday night. As a graduate transfer, Bauta will be eligible to play for CSU immediately.
Bauta, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound quarterback, started just one game in his four seasons with the Bulldogs. His lone start came this season against Florida and he threw four interceptions in a loss.
Bauta mainly served as the team’s third string quarterback during his time with the program. After redshirting in 2012, he appeared in six games combined in 2013 and 2014, throwing for 48 yards and rushing for 46 yards and two scores.
At Colorado State, Bauta would presumably provide depth at the position behind Nick Stevens, who threw for 2,369 yards, 21 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season as a sophomore.
Coleman Key, the Rams’ No. 2 quarterback, was granted his release from CSU earlier in the week.
