Rapper Wale drops ‘MVP’ track in honor of Bryce Harper
Win the MVP. Get your name on a song. That’s how it worked for Bryce Harper.
Rapper Wale, a proud D.C. native, dropped a track aptly titled “MVP (Bryce Harper)” to celebrate the 23-year-old’s unanimous selection as the 2015 National League MVP.
“Got the seats all filled. I’m the reason y’all here, everybody talking, feel like I’m Bryce Harper.”
Harper rightfully assumes the marquee, but he’s not the only Washington Nationals player or sports personality to get name-dropped in the song. You’ll hear mentions of Stephen Strasburg, Max Scherzer, Jayson Werth, new manager, Dusty Baker, Scott Van Pelt, the late Stuart Scott, and yep, even the much maligned Jonathan Papelbon.
Have a listen. (WARNING: Lyrics are NSFW.)

We’re best to let resident Stew hip-hop aficionado Mike Oz weigh in on Wale’s lyrics and flow. Whatever you think of the song, though, until Kendrick Lamar, The Game or someone else who represents the West Coast spits a verse or two about Mike Trout, Harper’s got the edge in terms of rap cred.
