Chris Heroy to crew chief for Brian Scott
Chris Heroy has a new driver to crew chief for in 2016.
Kyle Larson’s former crew chief will be the crew chief for Brian Scott at Richard Petty Motorsports in 2016. Scott is moving up to the Cup Series full time after running several seasons in the Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing and Richard Childress Racing. Scott will be teammates with Aric Almirola, who made the Chase in 2014.
“I’m really excited to join the team,” Heroy said in a team statement. “I really enjoyed working with Kyle for his rookie season, and I’m looking forward to working with Brian as he works toward the Rookie of the Year title. This team has done a great job building consistency over the past year and continuing their winning tradition is a top priority, and I believe we can accomplish that this season.”
Scott’s only NASCAR national series wins came in the Truck Series. He won at Dover in 2009 and at Phoenix in 2012.
Heroy served as Larson’s crew chief for two seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing. CGR announced earlier in the offseason that Chad Johnston, formerly the crew chief for Tony Stewart at Stewart-Haas Racing, would be Larson’s new crew chief.
