Aguero back training ahead of Arsenal trip
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has returned to training as he steps up his bid to make his comeback against Arsenal on Monday.
Aguero, 27, has sat out City’s last four games with the heel injury he sustained in their 3-1 win over Southampton last month.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini said on Friday that the striker was scheduled to resume working with the team on Tuesday, which he now has.
Pellegrini hopes that, because the match at the Emirates Stadium is on Monday evening, the extra two days will give Aguero time to develop enough fitness to feature.
Aguero, who suffered a hamstring injury playing for Argentina in October, has missed 11 of City’s last 14 games in all competitions.
But he is still their joint-top scorer with nine goals, including six in his last three Premier League matches.
If he is fit, Pellegrini will face a decision whether to omit Wilfried Bony, who has scored in his last two games.
While Aguero could return, City are expected to be without defenders Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta plus the former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri, who could be out until April.
