2015 Reviews: HScott Motorsports
Welcome to our 2015 reviews. Instead of going driver-by-driver we’re going to review teams this year. We’re starting from the bottom of the standings and working our way up. HScott Motorsports time.
Drivers (standings in parenthesis): Justin Allgaier (29th), Michael Annett (36th)
Highlights: Allgaier finished eighth at Bristol in the spring, his only top 10 of the season and the team’s only top-10. He also finished 12th at Auto Club Speedway and 12th at Bristol in the fall. If the Cup Series ran at Bristol every week, Allgaier might have made the Chase. Annett’s only top-20 finish came in the Daytona 500 where he finished 13th. If you’re going to have one top 20, might as well do it in the biggest race of the season.
Lowlights: Where should we begin with Annett? He didn’t qualify for two races and swapped into the No. 33 car to get into the race at Atlanta. He finished inside the 20s nine times in 2015. Yes, that means that he finished 30th or worse in 25 races. How is that possible with Hendrick equipment? (We also feel obligated to point out the 43rd place finish Annett had at Bristol without completing a single lap.
Allgaier had some disastrous finishes to. He finished 40th or worse six times in 2015. He finished inside the top 20 10 times in 2015, so at least he can say he beat Annett in that department. Didn’t do much for his job, however.
Overview: Despite being the far better driver, Allgaier is the odd man out at HScott to make way for Clint Bowyer’s one year stay with the team before he replaces Tony Stewart at Stewart-Haas Racing. Annett’s sponsorship won out, as he’ll remain with the team and looks to improve on 2015 (though it’s hard to see how 2016 could be worse).
Allgaier is taking Brandt, his sponsor, to the Xfinity Series and JR Motorsports. He’ll run for the Xfinity Series title and likely win a few races in 2016.
Previous Reviews: Front Row Motorsports, BK Racing and Tommy Baldwin Racing.
