Police: Bowling Green DT put controlled substance in woman’s drink
Bowling Green defensive tackle Mike Minns made headlines early in the season when he hilariously played dead on the field after losing his shoe.
He’s now in the news for a much different reason. And it’s no laughing matter.
According to NBC 24, Minns was arrested Monday for his alleged involvement in a Nov. 22 incident at a bar in downtown Bowling Green. Police say Minns, 21, faces a charge of “corrupting another with drugs” for allegedly putting a controlled substance into a woman’s drink.
Police say that video footage from the bar that night shows Minns putting an undisclosed substance into the drink of a female student.
Minns, a redshirt junior, has been suspended indefinitely by the football program. He played in 12 games and started 11 for the Falcons this season, totaling 20 tackles and a fumble recovery for the MAC champions. Minns also combined for 13 tackles in 14 games combined in 2012 and 2013. He redshirted the 2014 season.
Bowling Green improved to 10-3 when it beat Northern Illinois in the MAC title game on Dec. 4. The Falcons will square off against Georgia Southern in the GoDaddy Bowl on Dec. 23.
Minns’ status for that game is not immediately known.
