Hawks' Kane pushes point streak to 25 games

The streak continues.

Patrick Kane’s power-play goal midway through the second period against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night extended his current point streak to 25 games, tied for the longest streak among all active NHL players. The only player still in the league that has had a 25-game point streak is Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby, who went 25 consecutive games in November and December of 2010.

The goal from Kane will get all of the attention, but what really makes that play work is the pass by Teuvo Teravainen as he perfectly slides the pass through the middle of the Jets’ defense to set Kane up for the goal.

Along with the 25-game streak, Kane has now recorded at least one point in 28 of the Blackhawks’ first 30 games. The only two games he didn’t score in were the fourth and fifth games of the season. In a league where scoring slumps are common even for the best, most talented players streaks like this are almost unheard of.

Kane is the NHL’s leading scorer with 45 points, six points ahead of Dallas Stars teammates Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.
