COMING SOON: Jason Heyward is expected to make a decision soon, possibily in the next 24-48 hours. The Cardinals, Cubs, Angels and now the Nationals are reported to be involved, and it’s believed he has a $200 million offer in hand. [Jon Heyman]

RULE 5: The Phillies made outfielder Tyler Goeddel the first pick in Thursday’s Rule 5 draft. Goeddel comes from the Tampa Bay Rays system. Overall, 16 players were selected in the major-league portion of the draft. [MLB]

OFF THE TABLE: The Orioles have pulled their seven-year offer to Chris Davis off the table. The reported offer was worth $170, whereas Davis is still seeking $200 million. Talks could resume at any time. [Buster Olney]

DONE DEAL: The Pirates inked right-hander Juan Nicasio to one-year deal worth $3 million before departing Nashville on Thursday. [Ken Rosenthal]

BIG DECISION: Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran will make a decision about retirement following the 2016 season. [Brian Heyman]

DONE DEAL: The Padres have completed a deal for Braves catcher Christian Bethancourt [Kevin McAlpin]

KEEP TRYING: Despite the off-field issues that came to light this week, the Reds are still trying to move Aroldis Chapman in a trade. [Fox Sports]

TRADE TALKS: The Royals have inquired on Reds third baseman Todd Frazier, who is now known to be available. He would likely play left field in Kansas City.  [Jayson Stark]

DETAILS: Joakim Soria’s three-year deal with Kansas City is official. He’ll earn $24 million and there’s a mutual $10 million option for 2019. [Andy McCullough]
